Ragweed
Recent
research out of the Albany Quail Project has shown that
planting Ragweed as part of a habitat management plan has doubled
and tripled quail numbers! By planting 20% of the total range
in Ragweed seed, within 2-3 years quail populations have doubled
on research properties in Georgia. Long been recognized for
it’s
highly beneficial qualities for adult quail as well as broods,
ragweed has been used opportunistically as it is typically
comes up when ground is disked to produce weedy fields for
quail! By planting, research shows, the abundance and dependability
of Ragweed is multiplied, producing abundant and dependable
quail! The formula: Plant 20%-30% in Ragweed, using 10 lbs
per acre,. Once you have a good stand, disk every year until
it begins to look less abundant. Then re-seed.
